Inspectors and Animal Welfare Officers (AWO's) are employed by RSPCA Headquarters to cover the whole country. There are 5 Regional Headquarters who manage the Inspectors and AWOs in their region.
The Branches are expected to help them financially as much as their resources are able.
The main objective of our Branch is, to help the Inspectors and AWOs, by having accommodation available for the animals who need care and attention before being put up for adoption to a new, loving home.
This, as you can imagine, costs the Branch an enormous amount of money every year.
We are always struggling to be sure the Inspectors and AWOs are helped to the best of our resources.
The pictures show some of the cases we have been able to help in the past and sincerely hope there will be many more we can help in the future by doing our best to raise as much money as possible, on a regular basis, to help these animals who need our attention so desperately.
Cruelty is not always what it seems. It can be through ignorance or neglect or even lack of thought.
BADGER CULLING IS NOT THE WAY FORWARD
The government wants to cull badgers on a large scale. They are trying to justify this action by saying it will help stop the spread of bovine TB in cattle. The report by the ISG (Independent scientific group) have said that there is no evidence that badger culling will be a positive step forward in stopping the spread of this disease in cattle. It will be a total waste of money. Money better spent on inoculation of the cattle. Badger culling just pushes the problem elsewhere. Badger culling is barbaric and is wholly unacceptable. Write to your M.P. now and demand action be taken before its to late for these poor creatures.

10,000 Greyhounds retire from racing every year, 6,000 of which go missing and are never seen or heard of again. Many are shot and dumped or buried. The National greyhound racing club (NGRC), are a self regulatory Body not immediately covered under the new animal rights bill.
The RSPCA are asking you to sign their petition to help stop the cruelty that greyhounds suffer during and after the racing careers. As long as greyhounds are allowed to be treated in this way the figures quoted above will continue to rise.
Please write to your M.P. and demand that action is taken now.

The RSPCA is not just about domestic animals.
Whilst at local level our fundraising is to support the work of the kennels we also promote the aims of the main Society. We are happy to forge links with a number of projects within North Staffordshire. As part of this we are working with the Ford Green Nature Reserve to help make the area a haven for wildlife as well as a place of safety for the animals that inhabit the reserve.
For details of their work please go to their website at www.fordgreennaturereserve.moonfruit.com
