1. Rabbits are social animals, they like to have company – but make sure that they are neuterted.
2. Generally rabbits do not like to be picked up or even cuddled. They can bite or kick. They are not bundles of fur that like to be cuddled all day.
3. A rabbit can live up to 10 years.
4. Rabbits can live inside or outside but either way they will need space. Outside they will need a t least a 6ft hutch, 2ft wide and high and linked to a run of at least 8ft by 4ft. Indoors they can have a large cage, their own room or run of the house. If the latter make sure that there is nothing poisonous or dangerous for them to chew. They may chew your carpet, furniture or curtains.
5. Rabbits are not cheap to feed. They need hay or fresh grass constantly. 20% of their diet should consist of proper rabbit food (1 to 2 eggcups) as well as some fresh vegetables and plants.
6. They will also need straw to sleep on and this should be replaced weekly
7. It will cost around £8 a week to feed a rabbit. The hutch and run can be a few hundred pounds.
8. Your rabbit will need a yearly vaccination.
9. There likely will be vets bills to pay during your rabbits life.
10. Your rabbit will also need a feeding bowl, water bowl, litter tray and toys for him to play with.
