This was more than the previous year and we hope that this year we will help many more. Our priority is to take in animals from the Inspectorate. They often require special attention after the horrendous abuse they have received and then also need special people to rehome them who will understand the problems they have already been through in their short lives.
Whilst doing this essential work to help all animals, you make friends, people with the same interests as you. I have people who I home visited years ago and who still write or telephone to say how their pet is getting along. Amongst people I have met at the RSPCA are some of my good friends.
Funds have to be raised to cover boarding costs, veterinary attention, neutering, vaccinations and microchipping.
On average the overall cost for a dog in our care is £250 and for a cat £200.
The five freedoms are like a wish list for animals. The RSPCA believes that anyone who looks after an animal should try to give them the five freedoms
We are here to help local animals
We need to raise over £175,000 every year
We rehome an animal nearly every day
All our animals are seen by a Vet, neutered and microchipped
We have to raise our own funds
If you have any broken jewellery, unwanted foreign currency or old mobile phones then help us raise funds by bringing them to our shop in Hanley.
