Your Step by Step guide to the start of a beautiful friendship:-

Step 1 -  Telephone the kennels to make an    appointment to view our animals .

Step 2 - Visit the kennels, meet our canine and/or feline residents and talk to the kennel staff who will be only too willing to give any information they can on individual animals, i.e. temperament, type of  new home we are hoping to find for them (with or without children or other pets, etc) and any past history we know about them. They will also advise the donation amount required for animal adoption (this may vary from animal to animal, depending on age, breed (full pedigree animals will be more expensive to adopt than crossbreeds) and how long the animal has been in kennels.

All cats and dogs will be microchipped, wormed, de-fleaed and the first vaccination given prior to rehoming. All the above are included in the adoption cost.  Usually, you will need to return to the kennels within 2/3 weeks with your new pet to have the second vaccination (this will be at your own expense but can be done at a very competitive price).

You will also be able to bring your new pet back to the kennels for annual booster vaccinations at a reduced rate.

Step 3 - Once your new pet has "chosen you", the kennel staff will take your details. These will then be passed on to our Home Visiting Co-ordinator who, in turn,  will arrange for you to have an RSPCA trained Home Visitor come to your home to go through a standard questionnaire with you.  Although this may sound daunting, please do not be put off by this procedure - it is simply a method of  helping us ascertain that you are  "right" for your chosen pet and that he/she is the right one for you and will fit into your lifestyle and family/work commitments. This is a good time to put any questions or to ask for any suggestions from your Home Visitor to ensure your new pet  feels at home as soon as possible. Your Home Visitor will be keen to help as much as he/she can.

(Please note - Home Visitors are not qualified to give Veterinary or animal training advice and we recommend that new owners direct any queries they have on such issues to the relevant bodies concerned (i.e. qualified Vets/animal trainers).

Step 4 - O.K. - So you've passed your Home Visit with flying colours!  The Home Visitor informs the kennels who will then ring you to your arrange collection of your new pet. You will sign our Adoption Form and on this you will be declaring that if, at any time during  life of the animal, you cannot care for it any longer then it must be returned to us (adoption monies will not be refunded). This ensures that the animal has the "back up" of  RSPCA care throughout it's lifetime.

Possible follow up home visits may be made to ensure that the

animal has   settled into it's new surroundings and to offer support for

new owners
